Two bodies suspected to be members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were discovered in a forested area near the Ruma-Thanchi border on Sunday.
The identities of the deceased remain unknown at this time.
According to Thanchi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin, local residents reported finding the bodies.
“ Based on the clothing they were wearing, we have reason to believe they may be linked to the KNF,” OC Uddin stated. “A thorough investigation is underway to determine more details.”
This discovery comes amidst an ongoing joint operation in Ruma and Thanchi targeting KNF members believed to be responsible for recent bank robberies. Authorities have reportedly held 78 KNF members so far.
