A paved bridge in the hope for years

Due to the lack of a paved bridge over Banshai River flowing over Fatepur Union No. 3 of Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail, the residents of three upazilas are facing extreme hardships in communication.

Their unbearable suffering has been going on for ages. In Narvar, they have to be paraphernalia with bamboo poles at risk to life.

The affected residents have complained that despite their strong demand for the construction of a paved bridge over the Banshai river on the eastern side of Fatepur market, it is not being implemented due to various complications. On Saturday (March 23), it was seen that people are crossing the bamboo poles risking their lives in Narwar.

According to the investigation, Fatepur Union has divided the Bangsai river in two directions.

They are at the end of their suffering in terms of movement with the district and upazila headquarters.

Construction of a paved bridge over Banshai River in Palpara area on the eastern side of Fatepur Bazar in Fatepur Union has been a long-standing demand of the locals. But their demand has not yet been implemented. People of 20-25 villages including Thalpara, Bankata, Palpara, Sutanri, Gobindpur, Banyatali, Gokki, Teghuri, Bhatkura, Sonarchar, Pardighi, Kanchanpur, Hilda have been traveling in this Narvar with bamboo poles for ages.

Besides, hundreds of people in Mirzapur, Sakhipur and Basail upazilas are dependent on this bamboo basket.

Many have to travel 10-15 miles to contact the district and upazila headquarters.

On the one hand, they are wasting extra money, as well as taking more time.

Among the victims, three school teachers and two traders alleged that they were being deprived of fair prices for their produce due to lack of a paved bridge.

Moreover, the problems of students of schools, colleges and madrasas are more.

General Secretary of Fatepur Union Jubo League Ibrahim Mia and Union Awami League general secretary Abul Kalam Azad said that the construction of a paved bridge over the Banshai River on the eastern side of Fatepur Bazar is a long-standing demand of Erakabasi.

It has not been implemented due to various complications. As a result, the people of 20-25 villages of Fatepur Union, including three sub-districts, are facing extreme difficulties in communication.

They demanded to Khan Ahem Shubo MP, Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Jute and Textiles Ministry for construction of a paved bridge here.

In this regard, Chairman of Fatepur Union Parishad and President of Union Awaami League. Abdur Rauf Mia said, Fatepur Union is very neglected. There is no end to the suffering of the local people, especially in the case of river erosion.
