Cheap-rate sale of protein at 30 places

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will set up 30 sale points in the capital to sell milk, eggs, meat, and fish at affordable prices during the upcoming month of Ramadan.

Milk, eggs, and meat will be sold from 1st Ramadan to 28th Ramadan. And the sale of fish will start on Monday and continue until the 15th of Ramadan.

Minister Md. Abdur Rahman said this in the conference room of the Department of Livestock at Khamarbari in the capital on Sunday.

Under this programme, liquid milk will be sold at Tk 80 per liter, eggs at Tk 9.17 each (1 dozen Tk 110), beef at Tk 600 per kg, mutton at Tk 900 per kg, and dressed broiler chicken at Tk 250 per kg.

There will be 25 sell points in temporary locations and 5 in permanent markets. The temporay sales centers have been located at Natun Bazar (Badda), Korail slum (Banani), Khamarbari (Farmgate), Azimpur Matrisadan (Azimpur), Gabtoli, Diabari (Uttara), Japan Garden City (Mohammadpur), Shatfoot Road (Mirpur), Khilgaon (south of the rail crossing), beside the Secretariat (Abdul Gani Road), Segun Bagicha (kitchen market), Arambagh (Motijheel), Rampura, Kalshi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (at the mouth of Maniknagar Goli), Bosila (Mohammadpur), Hazaribagh (Shikshan), Lukas (Nakhalpara),
Arambagh (Motijheel), Kamrangirchar, Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpara), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangabazar), and Kakrail.

The five sale points at permanent markets are Mirpur Shah Ali Bazar, Mohammadpur Krishi Market, Natun Bazar (100 feet), Kamala Bazar, and Kazi Alauddin Road (Anandbazar).

” Well-equipped pickup trucks will be used for selling the products. The vans with the products will reach each outlet by 9 a.m., and sales will start at 10 a.m. This activity of selling milk, eggs, and meat will continue under the initiative of the Department of Livestock ,” the minister said.

Moreover, the activities of selling fish will continue under the initiative of the Department of Fisheries. Rui fish will be sold at Tk 240 per kg, Pangas at Tk 130 per kg, Tilapia fish at Tk 130 per kg, and Pabda fish at Tk 330 per kg. Fish-selling activities will continue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day until Ramadan 15.

Fish will be sold at four designated locations of Dhaka North City Corporation and four of Dhaka South City Corporation.

The areas covered by Dhaka North City Corporation are Bangabandhu Square at Farmgate’s Khamarbari, Mirpur-1 (Eidgah Ground), Segun Bagicha Bazar, and Merul Badda Bazar. The areas covered by Dhaka South City are Mughdapara (Madinabagh Bazar); Jatrabari (Dayal Bharosa Market); Motijheel (Southeast Corner of Bangladesh Bank); and Palashi Mor.
