The story of ‘Criminals’, a crime-thriller, focuses on the three female characters – three women, Chumki Akhtar, Neela Bose, and Beethi Rahman, portrayed by actresses Tanzika Amin, Rukaiya Jahan Chamak and Neel Hurerzahan respectively, as they pursue distinct goals, united by a common objective – justice. They faced challenges after they fell victim to an MLM fraud.
The web film unfolds the story of these women, each facing the harsh realities of life in different corners of the city, falling prey to MLM business pyramid schemes. The narrative explores the complexities of law and the struggle for justice, presenting a dark comedy that mirrors the tragic reality of many.
While talking in this regard, director of the web film, Farhad Ahmed told media,
“Frauds and scams like these are common in our country. In these instances, the criminals fool and steal the innocents of their hard earned money and assets. And there is a lack of awareness about these occurrences among the populace. The story of this web film was made based on a similar sort of incident. It depicts the struggle of three ordinary women coming together and fighting to get back their money. This film can be described as somewhat of a dark comedy.”
‘Criminals’ combines tragedy and comedy offering a darkly humorous narrative. The web film raises questions about the current state of societal awareness and expectations from women.
The narrative is designed to provoke thought and encourage reflection on the challenges faced by women.
