We do not have a government of political leadership for a solution to the present crisis.
The government has a well-organised and foolproof machinery for rigging the election.
The government has also expressed its fear that, if it is out of power, the BNP will ‘finish’ Awami League in five minutes.
What has remained unsaid is that there will be no public resistance to save Awami League.
The government does not have faith in the people and the election rigging is done with the help of public officials.
The government that relies in secret killing and forced disappearance is too abnormal to listen to wise counseling.
What is essential is to investigate into such crimes, to expose the vicious truths.
For both Awami League and BNP, the leadership issue was decided on hereditary consideration and not on political consideration.
They have been chosen for plundering the people and robbing the banks.
Corruption was allowed to buy loyalty of the whole government.
The judiciary is independent under the Constitution but, because of the life-threatening terrorism of the government, judiciary is paralysed.
We do not know the details of the discussions held between Western governments and the government of Bangladesh.
We all are trapped by the fear of secret killing and forced disappearance.
Our democratic Constitution is freezing in the cold storage. So, the Constitution is flouted.
As it has been is in the cold storage, it has no relevance in running the country.
To save the country from the government that is in power through rigged election, we have no political leadership.
The leaders of the Western democracies are doing their best to arrange a free and fair election.
But the whole process of denying the bad governance is the root cause of the crisis.
It is a disgrace for all of us that we need foreign countries to fight the anti-people elements to hold the upcoming election in a free and fair manner.
They are insisting that free election has to be free of violence.
The government had no difficulty in accepting this condition.
They will say, the election has been held in accordance with the Constitution.
Such a government of terror is certainly bad for the people but also risky for the government itself.
The US and other Western leaders ought to know that the democratic Constitution which is the basis for the constitutional legitimacy of the government is kept in cold storage.
It is no secret that the present government is a government of rigged election.
As the parliamentary election is approaching, this government has been trying hard to convince everybody, within and outside the Bangladesh, that the election will be free and fair.
The prime minister who is eager to convince others herself has said repeatedly that upcoming election would be free and fair.
The US and the other Western countries avoided the constitutional dispute over the latest amendment to the Constitution.
They are relying on the assurance of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina that the election will be free and fair.
It is admitted by the government that if the BNP is in power, they will take five minutes to ‘finish’ Awami League.
What does it mean? Does it mean Awami League must continue in power to save itself and destroy BNP?
The democratic Constitution has been left in suspended animation and is used when suited.
Dr Yunus, the Nobel Laureate who has kept himself aloof from politics and enjoys international fame and respect, was humiliated every mean way possible that has disgraced us as a nation.
The sensible ones in Awami League must do the self-searching for tolerating madness as leadership.
The illegal government is a trespasser and has to relinquish power immediately. Mere election is not democracy. Our democratic Constitution has to be made fully functional now before the election.
