Jhantu, Ziad named for Fazlul Haque Memorial Award

Noted filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhantu and journalist Abdullah Ziad have been named winners
of Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2022. The award will be handed over at a programme scheduled to be held on October 26 at Channel i office in the capital, said a press release.
Fazlul Haque was the editor of the first cine magazine of the country, Cinema, which he started publishing in 1950 from Bogura, his birthplace. Fazlul Haque also directed a film for children titled ‘President’ where his son Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Channel i, had acted as a child artiste.
Fazlul Haque’s widow the late Rabeya Khatun introduced Fazlul Haque Memorial Award in 2004 and since then Fazlul Haque Smrity committee has been annually presenting the award to a filmmaker and a cine journalist for their contribution to filmmaking and cine journalism.
