Jhenaidah fire guts properties worth Tk 40 lakh

A devastating fire gutted properties worth at least Tk 40 lakh at Haterrasta in Jhenaidah town on Sunday midnight. Four furnisher shops and two other business establishments were gutted during the time. The fire originated from a gas cylinder of a tea stall in the market, locals and fire fighters assumed. Locals said, they witnessed the fire at about 1.40 AM and informed the matter to the fire fighters. The personnel of the fire service and civil defense from Jhenaidah and Kaliganj rushed the spot and managed the fire after an-hour fighting. The said, the fire spread out faster as there was no arrangement of water in the market.Sub assistant engineer of fire service and civil defense in Jhenaidah Rafiqul Islam said, they could not assess the figure of exact damage, while they assume that the loss might be around Taka 40 lakh in a primary assessment.
Annual sport, prize giving ceremony of RAKUB held

Annual spot and prize- giving ceremony of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayon Bank (RAKUB) was held at Zilla school filed premises under Sadar upazila of Bogra district on Saturday.
The inaugurating and prize giving ceremony was presided over Divisional General Manager Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury while general manager audit account and recovery division of RAKUB head office Mozammel Haque was present as chief guest. Gas price hiked protested in Kishoreganj

Committee to protect Oil, Gas, Power, Mineral, Resources and Ports of Kishoreganj district on Saturday evening observed its sit-in programme across the country to protest the government’s move for setting up Rampal coal-fired power plant near Sundarbans and also the decision for raising gas price. While addressing a rally infront of Islamia Super Market in the town during the sit-in programme. Md. Nazrul Islam, President of CPB presided over the rally. It was addressed among others by Engineer Salauddin, Abul Hashem Master, Adv Masud Siddique of BSD and Trade Union Leader Sirajul Islam.
Passport service launched
The Passport Service Week was launched at Kishoreganj regional passport office on Sunday.
