When we talk about weight loss, consistency is the key. You have to follow your diet religiously and go to the gym every day to shed kilos quickly. But there are times when you are better off staying at home rather than sweating. No, we are not giving you reasons to miss your workout session, we are saving you from further complications. Here are 5 situations when it is absolutely alright to miss your workout session.
When you are sick
Believe us, it is better to skip the gym when you are sick rather than going there and making your condition worse. Your body needs time and energy to recover. Stressing it more when suffering from fever can be harmful to your immune system. Take a day or two off from your workout schedule and rest at home. Also, do not forget to drink plenty of water.
When your muscles are paining
Muscle soreness after an intense workout session is normal. But if it is severe and you are not able to handle it then skip the gym that day. It is important to give time to your body for some rest. This will speed up the repair and recovery process of the muscles.
If you are feeling sleepy
At times we all find it hard to get up in the morning and hit the gym. If you have slept late at night and are still feeling sleepy and tired in the morning then there is no need to force yourself. You won’t be able to concentrate and perform the exercises correctly when you are sleepy. Moreover, you might feel more exhausted after the workout session.
If you have a hangover
It is always best to avoid workout sessions if you are under the influence of alcohol. Sweating in the gym does not help to get rid of the toxins inside your body. There are also high chances of getting an injury due to clumsiness and lack of concentration. Alcohol intake causes dehydration and exercising in such a condition can make the situation worse.
If you are injured or exhausted
If you prioritise your exercise over healing, then you are making a big mistake. Performing intense workout when you are injured can make your injury worse.
Do not stress your body in such a situation. In fact, you need to take a break from your regular schedule and rest.
