2025 to celebrate 50 years of Sino-Bangla ties

Ambassador Yao Wen has emphasised 2024 as a historic milestone in the China-Bangladesh relationship, which has reached a new level as a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Speaking at an event titled “The 2024 Reunion of Bangladeshi Persons in China” organised by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, he underscored the importance of people-to-people ties and announced that 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. This milestone will be celebrated as the “Year of People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges.”

The event was attended by Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary, Md. Jashim Uddin, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Ambassador Yao highlighted that the robust bilateral relationship is built on mutual understanding and close people-to-people connections.

He praised the contributions of Bangladeshi individuals who visited China in 2024 and reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Bangladesh to further enhance their partnership.

“China is ready to join hands with our Bangladeshi friends, overcome challenges, and navigate the ship of China-Bangladesh friendship towards an even brighter future,” Ambassador Yao stated.

Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening ties with China, including personnel exchanges at all levels, deepening practical cooperation in various fields, and advancing the shared development goals of both nations.

During the event, Ambassador Yao and Foreign Secretary Uddin presented awards to 10 outstanding representatives for their contributions to fostering the China-Bangladesh relationship.
