Two people died when a container fell from a lorry on a rickshaw in Patenga of the Port City. The accident took place on Wednesday around 12 noon in Patenga police station area. The names of those killed were not immediately known. After receiving the information of the accident, the rescue workers of the fire service went to the spot and recovered the bodies of two people.
According to fire service sources, the accident took place when the container fell on the passing rickshaw from the moving lorry. The rickshaw is twisted. The container is being removed from the road by a crane. Members of the Navy, Air Force and Police rushed to the rescue. After the accident, traffic on the airport road is closed.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station Zayed Noor said that the incident occurred when a large container suddenly fell on the rickshaw while the lorry was leaving the ship yard with the container. Two bodies were recovered and taken to the police station. Efforts are underway to identify them.
