In the prevailing internal conflicts in Sudan, a total of 721 Bangladeshi citizens have already returned home safely with the financial support of the government.
Additionally 160 more Bangladeshis in Sudan have also registered to return home considering the escalating volatility, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Soheli Sabrin told the journalists at the weekly media briefing on Thursday.

“Amidst the ongoing internal conflicts in Sudan, a total of 721 Bangladeshi citizens have already safely returned home with the financial support of the government. Additionally, due to the escalating volatility in Sudan, 160 Bangladeshi individuals have registered for repatriation,” she said.

“The government has taken necessary measures to facilitate their return, including arranging flights and providing financial assistance of Tk 5,000 per person including food support. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been actively coordinating the repatriation process to ensure the safety and well-being of the Bangladeshi nationals,” the spokesperson said.

“The Bangladeshi Embassy in Sudan, consulates, and relevant authorities are in constant communication to facilitate the necessary arrangements. The repatriation of the 721 Bangladeshi citizens has been successfully completed, while efforts are ongoing to repatriate the remaining individuals,” she said.

Apart from this, she also briefed the journalists about the consular delegation from Romania who arrived in Dhaka on March 6 to initiate the visa processing procedures for Bangladeshi citizens.

“The delegation informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that they have decided to conduct the visa processing activities at their own mission in New Delhi. Since Romania is an independent and sovereign country, this decision is entirely their own, without any other underlying reasons. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided full cooperation during their one-month stay in Dhaka,” she said.
