Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, visited the grave of her brother-in-law, the late Arafat Rahman Koko, on Saturday—marking her first visit following her return to Bangladesh after 17 years.
Accompanied by Koko’s widow, Syeda Shamila Rahman, Zubaida visited the Banani Graveyard and offered fateha at the grave of Tarique’s younger brother, who passed away from cardiac arrest in Malaysia on January 24, 2015, at the age of 45.
During the visit, she recited verses from the Holy Quran and prayed for the eternal peace of Koko’s departed soul, according to BNP Media Cell member Atikur Rahman Rumon.
Koko, remembered also as a sports organiser, was laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard on January 27, 2015. At that time, both Tarique and Zubaida were living in the UK and were unable to return due to legal issues.
Zubaida arrived in Dhaka on May 6 from London, accompanied by her mother-in-law, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, and Shamila Rahman, ending over a decade of exile. The next day, she visited her father’s grave at Banani Military Graveyard and offered fateha.
Since 2008, Tarique Rahman, Dr Zubaida, and their daughter Zaima Rahman have been residing in London.
