Bangladesh registered a massive win over Sri Lanka to clinch the 4th Youth ODI at CCC Grounds, Colombo on Saturday.

Bangladesh Under-19 continued their impressive run against Sri Lanka Under-19 with a commanding 146-run victory in the fourth Youth ODI. Sensational century from opener Zawad Abrar, the young Tigers now hold a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Zawad scored 113 off 111 deliveries, hitting 14 boundaries and three sixes. It marked his second hundred in Youth ODIs-his first came in the second match of the series, where he remained unbeaten on 130 off just 106 balls, smashing 14 fours and six sixes.

Zawad’s brilliant hundred and Rizan Hossain’s sparkling fifty, the young Tigers posted their highest-ever total of 336 for 8 on foreign soil before the bowlers dismantled the hosts for 190 in 38.4 overs, sealing an emphatic win.

Bangladesh’s 336 is their second-highest total in Youth ODIs, behind only their 340 for 7-also against Sri Lanka in Chattogram back in 2019.

Batting first at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground, Bangladesh made the most of winning the toss. Openers Zawad Abrar and Kalam Siddiki Aleen gave their side a solid start with a 49-run stand before Kalam fell for 19 off 24 balls. Zawad then found strong support in Azizul Hakim Tamim, who made 23 off 31, keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Sri Lanka’s Rasith Nimsara picked up 3 wickets but couldn’t prevent the carnage.
Sri Lanka’s chase faltered from the outset. They lost both openers – Dulnith Sigera and Rehan Peiris – within the first two overs, dismissed by Sanjid Mazumder and Al Fahad respectively. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals as Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated.

Al Fahad picked up 3 wickets including the key one of Chamika Heenatigala, who briefly threatened with a 30 off 18. Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim chipped in with 2 wickets, including a brilliant caught-and-bowled to dismiss Kithma Vidanapathirana. Debasish Deba and Samiun Basir also joined the wicket list, while Kalam Siddiki picked up one scalp.
