Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin on Saturday said the role of zakat is important to establish social justice and zakat has it magnificence and influence in the social system globally.
SK Bashir came up with this remark while addressing at a seminar titled “Role of Islamic Social Finance in Economic Empowerment and Human Development” as the chief guest held at Aloki Convention Center at Tejgaon-Gulshan Link Road in the capital.
The Commerce Adviser said that the people should have to be motivated to provide zakat while efforts should also be there to make visible the influence of zakat in the society, said a handout.
He said that if taxation system does not work properly in the free market economy, then it would not be possible to ensure social justice.
Bashir said although many people including young ones sacrificed their lives during the July revolution in the country last year to eradicate inequality and disparity from the society, but inequality still persists to some extent.
“To root out such inequality, we should have to ensure balanced distribution of resources,” he added.
Associate Professor of the Microeconomics Department of the Manchester University Dr M Emranul Haque made the key-note presentation at the seminar.

Earlier, the Commerce Adviser inaugurated the two-day 13th Zakat Fair-2025 being organized by the CZM. The Fair will remain open for everybody till 7:00 pm tomorrow.
