Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Mercantile Bank PLC. Previously, he served as the Senior Executive Vice President and Divisional Head at Bank Asia.
With over 29 years of experience in the banking sector, Dr. Zahid has developed expertise in business development with a significant focus on corporate banking, asset quality and risk management, operations management, compliance and control, mentoring and people development, and market expansion into unexplored territories. Dr. Zahid began his banking career in 1996 as a Probationary Officer at Eastern Bank.
Later, he joined Bank Asia, where he dedicated over 21 years of service. He holds a B.Com (Honors) and an M.Com in Finance & Banking from the University of Dhaka.
Additionally, he earned an MBA and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Dr. Zahid is also a guest speaker at various universities, both in Bangladesh and internationally.
