Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has extended an invitation to Elon Musk, a leading US entrepreneur and the founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, to visit Bangladesh and introduce the Starlink satellite service in the country.
The Chief Adviser invited Musk in a letter dated February 19, expressed that Musk’s visit would provide an opportunity to connect with young Bangladeshis, who stand to benefit significantly from this cutting-edge technology.
“Let us collaborate to realise our shared vision for a better future,” the Chief Adviser stated in his letter.
The letter further emphasized that integrating Starlink’s connectivity into Bangladesh’s infrastructure would be transformative, particularly for the country’s dynamic youth, rural and underprivileged women, and remote, underserved communities.
To ensure the smooth launch of Starlink within the next ninety working days, the Chief Adviser has entrusted his High Representative, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, with coordinating closely with the SpaceX team.
Earlier, on February 13, Professor Yunus engaged in a detailed telephonic discussion with Musk to explore potential collaboration and advance efforts to bring Starlink’s satellite internet service to Bangladesh.
“During their conversation, Professor Muhammad Yunus and Elon Musk emphasised the transformational impact of Starlink’s satellite communications, particularly for Bangladesh’s enterprising youth, rural and vulnerable women and remote communities,” the CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a press statement published on his Facebook profile on14 February.
