Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Friday extended birthday greetings to BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia by sending her a bouquet of flowers.
BNP Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed the gesture to journalists.
“As you know, today marks the birthday of our leader, the ‘Mother of Democracy,’ three-time prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Although she does not celebrate the day, the party is organising milad and doa mahfils across the country,” Dr Zahid said.
He added that the Chief Adviser’s officials delivered the bouquet to Khaleda Zia’s residence in Gulshan on Friday afternoon. At around 4:00pm, the Chief Adviser’s Private Secretary Shazeeb M Khairul Islam and Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Director at the Chief Adviser’s Office, handed it to the BNP leader’s Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar at her home, ‘Firoza.’ BNP Executive Committee member Belayet Hossain, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, and Chairperson’s Personal Wing official Masud Rahman were also present during the handover.
On Thursday night, the Chinese Ambassador’s office had also sent a bouquet to the BNP Chairperson to mark the occasion.
