Yunus at Earthna Summit: Mutual cooperation needed to face challenges
Noting that Bangladesh wanted to stand as a beacon of hope for the world, Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday said that the path to sustainable and equitable future lies in collective action.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Earthna Summit 2025 in Doha of Qatar he called on all friends and partners to rewrite an inclusive new social contact.
It is a pact where the state and the people, especially the youth, will build a future together based on inclusive systems, traditions, justice, dignity and opportunity.
In fact, he spoke about sustainable development in the world, where the empowerment of marginalized people will be considered a fundamental issue.
We are currently going through a time when various crises, including climate change and geopolitical tensions are intensifying.
In the context of the new reality, new policies are being formulated in various countries, and new technologies are being discovered and used on an increasing scale.
In a changing world, many assumptions of the past are becoming obsolete.
The need for the revival of regional and global cooperation is greater than ever before.
About building a new world, the Nobel laureate said, “Let us be brave – let us all build a world where no one is so poor that they cannot dream and no dream is so big that it cannot be achieved.”
He shed light on how our innovation, compassion, and collective action will help us address various challenges.
The student uprising that took place in Bangladesh in July- August last year has set a new example in the world.
The important work that the current government is doing will also play a role in building the people’s dreams in the future.
In fact, there is no alternative to continue democracy and good governance in building the people’s dreams.
To achieve the goal of building Bangladesh that Dr. Yunus is talking about, the countrymen will also have to show responsibility.
If there is a lack of competent leadership to run the country in the future, it is doubtful whether the hopes and aspirations of the countrymen will be realized.
There is also a risk that our country’s progress will be hampered by various factors, including climate change.
If we delay in determining what to do to overcome those obstacles, there is doubt as to whether we will be able to succeed in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people.
