A youth was killed in a crude bomb explosion in the Moghbazar area of the capital on Thursday evening The incident occurred around 7:30pm in front of the Moghbazar Muktijoddha Sangsad.
The deceased has been identified as Siam, 24, who was an employee at Zahid Car Decoration, a shop located under the flyover.
Confirming the incident, Hatirjheel Police Station Inspector (Operations) Md Mohiuddin told the media, “Police are currently at the scene. Further details will be shared later.”
Kamran, the shop owner, said, “Siam had gone out to have tea when a crude bomb was hurled from the Moghbazar flyover, exploding on the ground below and killing him on the spot.”
Ramna Division Deputy Police Commissioner Masud Alam told the media that a powerful cocktail bomb was hurled from the flyover. “The youth died on the spot after being hit by the explosive,” he said, adding that senior police officers were present at the scene and an investigation was underway.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and are trying to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the attack.
