Youth held in connection with double murder in Gulshan

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a youth named Rumon, 27, in connection with the murder of a tea stall owner and the caretaker of a plot in Gulshan.

Killer Rumon was arrested from Halishahar area of Chittagong city in a joint operation of RAB-1 and RAB-7 on Tuesday night.

Lt Col Md Munim Ferdous, RAB’s director of the Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the matter to the media during a press briefing at its media centre on Wednesday noon.

“Primary investigation suggests that Rumon took part in the killing mission of the person,” he added.
Earlier on 28 September, police recovered the throat-slit bodies of two people from a tea shop in Dhaka’s gulshan-2 area.

The deceased victims were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 62, the caretaker of the plot, and his assistant Sabbir Hossain, 16.

After the incident, son of the deceased Rafiqul Islam filed a case with the Gulshan Police Station, in this connection.
