Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has announced that the ongoing Youth Festival 2025—a nationwide initiative to inspire and empower the country’s youth—will now continue until December 31, 2025.
He made the announcement during a review meeting of the National Committee on the Implementation of the Youth Festival-2025, held Tuesday at the Ministry of Public Administration.
Asif Mahmud, who also serves as Adviser on LGRD and Cooperatives, chaired the meeting. It was attended by representatives from 25 relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
During the meeting, the adviser assessed the festival’s progress and gave directives to ensure its smooth and effective implementation. He also revealed that efforts are underway to give the event an international dimension, including plans for a “Global Youth Summit” in collaboration with regional bodies such as SAARC.
Launched on December 30, 2024, under the slogan “Esho Desh Bodlai, Prithibi Bodlai” (Let’s Change the Country and the World), the Youth Festival has been celebrated across the country with widespread enthusiasm. Although it was initially declared closed on February 19, the government later decided to extend the duration through the end of 2025.
So far, over 71.66 lakh youths have directly participated in various festival programs, including 27.42 lakh women. Out of 13,711 total events, 2,931 were specially designed as sports and cultural activities for women.
One of the festival’s key highlights is the U-17 football tournament, held from union to divisional levels under the supervision of the Directorate of Sports and organized by district sports offices.
The Youth Festival 2025 is spearheaded by the Chief Adviser’s Office and is being implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in partnership with 26 other ministries.
The adviser emphasized that the festival aims to cultivate national unity, promote cooperation, encourage self-reliance among the youth, and showcase local success stories on an international platform.
