Yourma Shaer Jahan, hailed from Mymensing, is very skilled in dancing, presenting, and reciting. She also sings songs.
Since she is still busy with her studies, Yourma is currently unable to devote full time to her chosen profession of presenting and dancing.
However, in between studies, she devotes a lot of time to dance and presentation. She is pursuing BSc degree in Apparel Engineering at Bangladesh University of Textiles. Yourma has been dancing since she was just three years old.
She completed a three-year dance course at the Shishu Academy in Mymensingh. Later, she took a dance course at Nazrul Academy for another three years. She is also quite good at recitation and debate.
As a child, she took singing lessons from Niaz Mohammad Chowdhury’s disciple Zafar for several years.
As a child, Yourma participated in ‘Notun Kuri’ competitions in general dance, folk dance, recitation and rhyme singing.
She also took part in ‘Shapla Kuri’. Yourma has already been listed as a programme presenter for Bangladesh Betar. She will start working on Betar coming September.
She is a regular presenter of BTV’s ‘Notun Bhor’ programme. She is the sole presenter of Nexus TV’s ‘Goongoon’ programme, which airs twice a week. In addition, a programme titled ‘Golpo Kotha’ is going to start soon on SA TV, to be hosted by Yourma.
She has already recited at GTV’s ‘Amare Debona Bhulite’ programme. She also performs recitals at various events on behalf of ‘Bashori’ organisation. July 17 is her birthday.
While talking about her future plans, Yourma told this correspondent, “Presentations and recitations are what I like the most. That’s why I’m busier with presentations right now. I also work on a digital platform for an organisation.
I really enjoy reciting. However, I’m practicing singing very little. I want to release original songs. Let’s finish my studies properly first. Since I have a strong desire to appear in the BCS exams, even if I can fulfill my dream by passing BCS, I will continue to perform and recite regularly for the rest of my life.”
