Legendary Bangladeshi singer Sabina Yasmin’s birthday is being celebrated with a special musical programme titled ‘Jui Phul Sabina Yasmin’,
produced by Channel i.
The show is set to air on September 4, her birthday.
Recorded on May 31 at Channel i’s studio, the programme features Sabina Yeasmin in conversation with host Shykh Seraj where she shared stories about her music and film journey.
Alongside the discussion, a new generation of singers performed some of her iconic songs.
Kona sang ‘Shoto Jonomer Swapno’ and a duet ‘Sob Sokhire Par Korite’ with Imran. Konal performed ‘Shudhu Gaan Geye Porichoy’ and ‘Isharaye Shish Diye’.
Zhilik and Imran teamed up for the song ‘Chherona Chherona Haath’, while Liza delivered the songs ‘Ei Mon Tomake Dilam’ and ‘O Pakhi Tor Jontona’.
Rakiba Oishee sang ‘E Ki Sonar Aloy’ and ‘Ei Prithibir Pore’, and Atia Anisa performed ‘Dukkho Bhalobese’ and ‘O Aamar Roshia Bondhure’.
Regarding talking about the arrangement of such programme, Sabina Yasmin told this correspondent, “I loved sharing memories and was truly moved by how beautifully these young singers performed my songs. In between the stories, the boys and girls of this generation all sang really beautifully. I was impressed.”
The artistes are very excited to be able to sing in the event with Sabina Yasmin.
Kona said, “Respected Sabina Yasmin Madam is a very dear and respected artiste of mine. I tried to sit in front of her and sing her songs during her lifetime, and it was a great achievement. Sabina Madam is fortunate to have the most popular songs in Bangladesh and most countries in her voice. As long as this world exists, Bangladesh will live on through the songs of its country and through other songs as well, for generations to come.”
Imran said, “I would say that Sabina Yasmin Madam is an expression queen. No one else has such a rich repertoire of songs. It is a privilege to sit in front of her and sing her songs.”
Zhilik shared her feelings by this way, “I was fortunate enough to be crowned the ‘Shera Kontho’ by the esteemed Runa Laila Madam and Sabina Yasmin Madam. I had the opportunity to sing in front of both of them. It was truly a great achievement in my life.”
Liza said, “The songs of the respected Sabina Madam are sung at almost every event. However, this is the first time in my life that I have ever sat in front of her and sung. I was very nervous and scared. But I was happy because this opportunity may not come again in my life. So I tried, all I can say is that it will be a memorable event in our lives.”
