Young author Shammi Tultul gets literary award

Prominent young litterateur Shammi Tultul has been honored with a Literary Award in recognition of her contributions to contemporary literature. The award, accompanied by a commemorative memento, was presented during a writers’ convention and award ceremony held in Dhaka on Friday.

The daylong event, organized to mark the 18th anniversary of Protiva Prokash publishing house, took place at the Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity. The celebration featured seminars, poetry and rhyme recitations, and a gathering of writers from across the country.

Expressing her joy upon receiving the award, Shammi Tultul — a rising literary voice from Chattogram — said the recognition would inspire her to continue contributing to the field of literature. “The encouragement from such platforms strengthens our resolve to keep creating,” she said, adding her lifelong commitment to enriching the literary scene.

The event drew participation from a host of distinguished guests, including President of the National Press Club poet Hasan Hafiz, fiction writer Rafiqul Rashid, poet Rezauddin Stalin, Jessore Education Board Chairperson Dr. Asma Begum, writer-researcher Dr. Yahya Mannan, Bangla Vision Chief Editor Dr. Abdul Hai Siddique, children’s authors Amirul Islam and Rahim Shah, publisher Monirul Haque of Ananya, writer Mahfuzur Rahman, journalist Selim Auwal, poet Mahbuba Chowdhury, researcher Dr. Shahnaz Parveen, NRB Islamic Life Insurance CEO Md. Shah Jamal Howlader, and Moin Morsalin, publisher of Protiva Prokash.

The event celebrated not just literary achievements but also encouraged budding writers to contribute to the vibrant cultural and literary fabric of Bangladesh.
