Bangladesh registered a 25-run victory over Netherlands in their crucial D-Group match at Kingstown in West Indies on Thursday night.
Batting first, Bangladesh piled up a satisfactory 159 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs thanks to Shakib Al Hasan who remained undefeated with 64 runs from 46 balls including nine fours.
Later, the Tigers restricted Netherlands to 134 for the loss of eight wickets in the 20 overs. This vital victory powered Bangladesh to keep their hope alive to reach the Super Eight.
At one stage the batters of Netherlands were a good position but the way of the match went critical for the Dutch in the 15th over of the Netherlands innings. Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto gave the ball to promising leg-spinner Rishad Hossain to bowl and said, “you can do.” Rishad Hossain captured three wickets at the cost of 33 runs in his four overs.
Rishad said, ” when I came to bowl, I tried to give my teams earning dot bowls and claiming wickets. Thanks to the Almighty that he gave me support to captured three vital wickets of Netherlands.”
Hossain said, ” The wicket of the Saint Vincent was good. We tried to give our best effort. We tried to give our cent percent ability. When we were playing, we never thought that we lost the match. We were waiting for the last ball of the 20th over. I thought we could score less than 10 runs of total but we were confident that we shall win.”
” We never lost our dependence from Shakib bhai. We have known what Shakib bhai did in the past. He also performed an eye-catching display today. Thanks to the Almighty,” he added.
