Writ petition filed on Officers’ Club Dhaka poll

A writ petition has been filed in High Court on officers’ club, Dhaka 2024-2025 election, on 15th February, 2024 by Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed, Vice Chairman Candidate of the above mentioned election first ever in the club history.
Officers’ club source said that last 28 January 2023, an election schedule has been declared for its executive committee, where Cabinet Secretary is the ex- offcio chairman, one general secretary, three vice chairman, one treasurer, three joint secretaries and 14 members. Source has said that, one Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed, submitted his candidacy for the post of vice chairman along with other candidates on first February 2024.
On 2nd February, it was scrutinized. On scrutiny, the candidature of Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed, former DDG.of Ansar VDP. has been rejected. It was duly appealed to Commission the following day. But the commission did not take it into consideration with the clue of candidate’s participation in the nationality election.
But fact remains that, very candidate submitted the nomination paper on the basis of election schedule, where there is no hints for participation in the OCD election, as Commission interprets for his rejection.
Moreover, he is an authorized member of club in the voter list and members book published on the occasion of election.
However, the candidate’s appeal was rejected. He prayed for the certified copy for his rejection. but it was not accepted and finally he was hurt and harassed and certified copy was not given to him.
Finally, the candidate with grievances, filed a writ petition with all necessary papers. Before that, he had a representation to club president, for consideration of his appeal.
It is to be mentioned that, one secretary candidate has been made valid instead of his violation of clause, written In the club constitution, which comes to us by club source.
