World Youth Skills Day (WYSD)-2025 will be observed today in the country, as in other parts of the world.

The day aims to promote skill development and highlight the vital role of skilled youth in addressing today’s most pressing global challenges, reports BSS.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as World Youth Skills Day to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.

Since then, World Youth Skills Day events have provided a unique opportunity for dialogue among young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, firms, employers’ and workers’ organisations, policymakers, and development partners.

According to the United Nations (UN) website, July 15, 2025, marks the 10th anniversary of World Youth Skills Day. This year’s theme focuses on Youth Empowerment Through AI and Digital Skills.
Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus today issued a message on the eve of the day, saying: “I am happy to know that this year, as in every year, ‘World Youth Skills Day’ is being celebrated on July 15 in line with the United Nations’ call.”

He said skilled manpower is essential to accelerate the country’s national development, meet the demands of a diverse labor force in the industrial sector, and ensure greater employment opportunities in the international market.

In the context of a changing world, there is no alternative to the effective use of modern technology in transforming the country’s youth into skilled manpower, Dr Yunus added.
The interim government, formed through the July mass uprising, is committed to transforming youth into national assets and creating employment opportunities to build a new Bangladesh free from discrimination, he stated.

The government is already undertaking and implementing various initiatives to provide training and create employment opportunities for youth, based on labor market demands both at home and abroad, the Chief Adviser said.
