World Tourism Day-2025 was celebrated in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, with various arrangements keeping in mind the theme of “Tourism for Sustainable Development”.
A colorful rally was taken out at 10:30 am on Saturday under the joint initiative of the Tourism Welfare Council, Radhanagar and Tourist Police Srimangal Zone.
The rally was inaugurated by Tourist Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury from the main gate of Grand Sultan Resort. The President of the Tourism Welfare Council, Kumkum Habiba, delivered the welcome speech at the event. The organization’s joint president, Tapas Das, moderated the event, and the general secretary, Tarekur Rahman Pappu, delivered the closing speech.
The rally ended in front of Paragon Hotel after visiting Radhanagar. The traditional Dhamail dance of Sylhet and the traditional dance of the Tripura community were performed at the end.
Representatives of hotels, resorts, cottages, restaurants, tour operators, tour guides, souvenir shops and media personnel of the upazila participated in this event. In addition, tea workers, Khasia and Tripura people joined in their own costumes. School students made the rally more colorful by carrying tea leaves, lemons, pineapples and satkaras in hand-made baskets.
A tree plantation program was also held in the middle of the rally. The organizers said that if sustainable tourism can be developed through proper planning, the country’s economy and culture will be further enriched.
