World logs 13,029 Covid-19 deaths in a day

In the last 24 hours, 13,029 people died from the Covid-19 pandemic while 345,735 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide. The US has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.

As of Friday morning (12-02-2021), a total of 108,298,441 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,378,865 while 80,343,487 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.

The US, the worst-hit country in the world, has registered 3,068 deaths and 103,481 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 486,922 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 28,002,240 have been infected so far.

Brazil has seen the second-highest death toll of 1,452 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 236,397. The total number of cases has exceeded 9,716,298 with 53,993 new infections.

Mexico has registered the third-highest death toll of 1,328 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 169,760 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,957,889 as 11,138 new cases were confirmed during the period.

The UK has reported 678 new coronavirus deaths, taking the death toll to Covid-19 climbed to 115,529. The tally of infections has surged to 3,998,655 as 13,494 new cases were confirmed during the period.

In Spain, 513 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 64,217. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,041,454 as 17,853 new cases were confirmed during the period.

Germany has reported 9,918 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 2,321,215. The death toll due to Covid-19 climbed to 64,513 with 534 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 219 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
