World Intellectual Property Day observed at BAU

World Intellectual Property Day observed at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Saturday embracing the global theme, “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP.”
The celebration began at 9:30 AM with a lively rally, which started in front of the Central Library.
The procession passed through the administrative building and concluded at the Syed Nazrul Islam Auditorium. Following the rally, a workshop organized by the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was held at 10:00 AM at the same venue.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Sarker, Director of IQAC and General Secretary of the Teachers’ Association. Professor Dr. Masuma Habib, a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), attended as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Haque, Student Affairs Advisor, and Professor Dr. Humayun Kabir, Treasurer of BAU, joined as special guests. Additional notable attendees included Professor Dr. Md. Shaheed Reza, Additional Director of IQAC, Professor Dr. Murad Ahmed Farukh, and several faculty members from different departments.
In her address, Chief Guest Dr. Masuma Habib emphasized the essential role of research and innovation in driving sustainable development worldwide.
She highlighted that intellectual property rights are key to safeguarding innovations and noted that their effective application in the agricultural sector can significantly boost productivity and strengthen food security.
