The World Diabetes Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Thursday, with call for healthy lifestyle.
With the theme “Diabetes: Let Healthy Living Be Our Commitment,” this year’s focus highlights the importance of adopting lifestyle changes to prevent and manage diabetes.
Kishoreganj, Diabetes Association including District Administration arranged a colourful rally, discussion, awareness campaign, handbills distribution among the peoples marking the day.
A discussion meeting held at the local Collectorate Conference Room on Thursday morning while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fouzia Khan in the chair.
Zila Parishad CEO, also Deputy Secretary (DS) Mostari Kadaery and Civil Surgeon (CS) dr.Saiful Islam attanded as special guests.
It was addressed among others, Diabetes Association of Kishoreganj, General Secretary, also Sadar UNO Abu Rasel, Professor (Retd.) Abdul Gani and Consultant dr.Sushil Shill.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Saiful Islam warned that diabetes, often termed a “silent killer,” is a chronic disease that can be prevented or managed with lifestyle adjustments. Maintaining controlled habits significantly reduces the risk of complications.
Recent data from the National Diabetes Treatment Guideline revealed that approximately 13.1 million people in Bangladesh are diabetic, affecting 14.2 percent of those aged 20-80., Dr.Saiful Islam added.
