World breastfeeding week observed

World Breastfeeding Week-2025 was celebrated on Monday with the theme “Prioritize Breastfeeding, Build a Sustainable Support System”.
Civil Surgeon( CS) Office arranged a rally, discussion and awareness campaign in 13 Upazilas and 8 municipalities of Kishoreganj.
Civil Surgeon( CS) of Kishoreganj, dr.Ovijeet Sarma presided over the programme. ADC(General) Mizabe Rahmat and Additional SP(Admin & Finance) Mukit Sarkar as special guests.
It was addressed among others by, Deputy Civil Surgeon (DCS) dr.Didarul Islam, Deputy Director of Social Services kamruzzaman khan , RMO of Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital , dr.Debashish Bhowmick, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Mohashin, and DEPO Mujib Alam.
CS dr. Obijeet Sarma said that, Breast milk is the best food for infants during the first six months of life as it provides all essential nutrients, antibodies, and immune support that a baby needs for optimal growth, development and long-term health.
“Breast milk is perfectly tailored to the baby’s needs. It enhances babies’ immunity and plays a vital role in their physical and mental development,” he said.
ADC (General) Mizabe Rahmat emphasized the active participation of families and society in protecting child health and ensuring maternal care.
Later, health officials, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers from different levels were present at the discussion meeting”
