A workshop on Climate Resilient Action Plan was held at Pirganj Municipality of Thakurgaon
on Tuesday. It was held in the meeting room of the municipality, organized by the municipality
and the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP) and with the participation
of TLCC members in the implementation of the Cluster Development Plan, Capital Investment
Plan. The workshop, jointly funded by the Bangladesh government and the World Bank.
Municipal Administrator and Upazila Executive Officer Rakibul Hasan was chaired and was
attended by former MP and Upazila BNP President Zahidur Rahman Zahid, General Secretary
and former Upazila Chairman Ziaul Islam Zia, Thana Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam, Press Club
President Joynal Abedin Babul, RUTDP Project Deputy Project Director Mofiz Uddin Bablu,
Project Operation Maintenance Specialists Md. Nurul Alam Talukder, Urban Planners Md.
Abdur Rakib Khan and Md. Saiful Rahman Rajan, Gender Specialist Sajeda Begum, Architect
Ajmeri Akhter, Zubaida Parveen, Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President
Moqaddes Hayat Milon, Municipality Executive Officer Haripada Roy, Municipal Engineer
Shahjahan Ali Shah, among others. If the project is implemented, climate-tolerant advanced
urban infrastructure and facilities will be built under the project. This will benefit 27 million
citizens living in 81 municipalities and 6 city corporations and 4.6 million urban/rural people
living in the growth corridors from the project interventions.
