Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sylhet Region, Bimal Chandra Som said, production of citrus fruits should be increased for the country’s economic growth.
Lemon is an important component of vitamin C food and one of the country’s most profitable crops. Import dependence on such crops should be reduced by increasing production.
He called on farmers to bring the country’s wasteland under cultivation and produce profitable crops.
He said the above while speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on safe and quarantine-free citrus production and export at a farm across Dhopadighir in Sylhet city on Tuesday.
Deepak Kumar Das, Training Officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Sylhet Presided over Raihan Parvez Roni, Agriculture Officer of Gowainghat Upazila conducted the workshop.
Dinendra Nath Sarkar, Consultant of BFVAPEA, and Dr. Sangeetha Mitra, Additional Deputy Director of the Osmani International Airport (DAE) Quarantine Wing attend the Workshop as special guest.
