Sylhet Bureau:
A worker died after being buried while cutting a mound in South Surma, Sylhet, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:30am in Mohammadpur Paschimpara of Silam Union in the upazila.
The deceased worker has been identified as Sumon Ahmed (30). He is the son of Rajab Ali of Rustampur Tilapara of Silam Union.
Locals said Sumon went to cut soil in Mohammadpur Paschimpara with other workers in a pickup van on Tuesday morning. As soon as he cut the soil and brought it to the car, a nearby mound collapsed on him and he was buried under the soil.
Sumon was immediately rescued by other workers who were present at the scene after removing the soil and taking him to the hospital. However, the doctor on duty declared him dead after taking him to the hospital.
SMP Moglabazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman said police have inspected the scene and a case of accidental death has been registered in the incident.
