Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Abdul Malek on Thursday said women’s rights have reached a respectable level in the country and it is gradually going up.
“Today, Bangladesh is transforming into a Smart Bangladesh from Digital Bangladesh. People are getting necessary information from union digital centres, even from village level. Country has achieved progress among women, and women’s rights have already reached a respectable level. We want to encourage women more to seek information through Right to Information Act,” he said, reports BSS.
Dr Malek said these while addressing as the chief guest a training workshop titled “Gender Inclusion in Training Right to Information” in capital’s Agargaon.
Information Commissioners Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and Masuda Bhatti addressed the programme as special guests.
Emphasizing on united effort to make way for women to seek and get more necessary information from concerned offices, the CIC said progress of women is progress of the country.
“Right to Information is the rights of the people. Information Commission has already provided training to around 60,000 people in all the districts and upazillas and held meetings to notify people,” Dr Malek added.
