Woman killed over trivial matter

A woman named Ayesha Begum (60) died after being hit by an opponent’s stick over a trivial incident in Ishwardi. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm on Friday in Khaderdair village of Salimpur union of the upazila.
The deceased Ayesha Begum is the wife of the deceased Atar Ali of Khaderdair village. Local sources said that two days ago, Salam Hossain, son of the deceased Ayesha Begum, accused his neighbor Majid Ali of being a cow thief.
On Friday night, he got into an argument with Salam and Pintu again. At one stage of the argument, when a fight broke out between them, Ayesha Begum came forward to save her son Salam.
At that time, Ayesha Begum was injured when her opponent hit her with a stick. When her family members rescued her and took her to Pabna General Hospital, the doctor on duty there declared her dead.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.S. M. Abdun Noor confirmed the matter and said that the body of the deceased has been taken into police custody after completing the post-mortem.
However, no one has been arrested in the incident yet. Further action will be taken after the autopsy.
