Withdrawal of 6,681 political cases recommended

A ministerial-level committee has recommended the withdrawal of 6,681 politically motivated and harassment-driven cases filed against political activists and innocent individuals in various times due to political vendettas and other reasons.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs disclosed this information.
According to an official document titled “Updated Information on Political and Harassment Cases Withdrawal”, the ministerial-level committee, formed under the leadership of the adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, has held nine meetings so far and recommended the withdrawal of 6,681 cases.

To review and recommend the withdrawal of politically motivated and harassment-driven cases, the government formed two committees-one at the district level and another at the ministerial level-under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Ministerial-Level Committee:

Chairperson: Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs
Members:

Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division (Ministry of Home Affairs) ,Additional Secretary (Law & Order) , Joint Secretary (Law)

A representative from the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs (not below the rank of Joint Secretary)
Member-Secretary: Deputy Secretary/Senior Assistant Secretary/Assistant Secretary of Law-1 Branch, Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs
District-Level Committee:
Chairperson: District Magistrate
Members:

Superintendent of Police (for metropolitan areas, a Deputy Commissioner of Police) Public Prosecutor (for metropolitan areas, the Metropolitan Public Prosecutor)
Member-Secretary: Additional District Magistrate
These committees were established to review and recommend cases for withdrawal that were filed for political harassment or other unjustified reasons.
