West Indies leveled the series 1-1 as they won by one run in a thrilling ‘Super Over’ in the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Bangladesh piled up a fighting total of 213 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

In reply, West Indies scored 213 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.

At one stage West Indies needed three runs in one ball. But they could add two runs to their total. Thus, the fate of the match was decided in the ‘Super Over’. West Indies scored 10 runs for the loss of one wicket. Ill-fated Bangladesh scored nine runs for the loss of one wicket. Thus, West Indies earn a nail-biting victory.

Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Saif Hassan (6) caught at the first slip by Justin Greaves off Akeal Hosein when Bangladesh’s score was 22.

Then, Bangladesh scored 103 for the loss of five wickets.

Opener Soumya Sarkar was caught at the deep midwicket by Khary Pierre off Akeal Hosein when the hosts’ total was 103 for the loss of five wickets.

Soumya Sarkar hit a notable 45. His 89-ball innings was belted with three fours and a sixer.
Nurul Hasan and Rishad Hossain built the only remarkable partnership scoring together 35 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Nurul Hasan (23) was caught & bowled by Motie when the Tigers’ innings came to an end.

Rishad Hossain remained unbeaten with 39. His 14-ball windy innings was studded with three sixes and three fours.

Motie captured three wickets at the cost of 65 runs, while Anthanze and Akeal Hosein bagged two wickets each giving 14 and 41 runs respectively.

Opener Athanze and one-down Keacy Karty scoring together 51 runs for the second wicket partnership before Athanze (28) was trapped leg before wicket by Rishad Hossain when the visitors’ total was 52 for the loss of two wickets.

Shai Hope and Justin Greaves made a notable partnership adding together 44 runs in the eighth wicket stand before Greaves (26) was run out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the touring side’s score was 177 for the loss of eight wickets. Shai Hope remained unbeaten with 53 runs. His 67-run innings had four fours. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Rishad Hossain captured three wickets in the space of 42 runs, while Nasum Ahmed and Tanvir Islam bagged two wickets each for 38 and 42 runs respectively.
