Weihai International Economic & Technical Cooperative Co. Ltd. (WIETC), a Chinese construction and engineering firm, has provided relief to flood-affected areas in Bangladesh. On Tuesday, October 16, WIETC representatives distributed food supplies in Sonagazi Upazila, Feni District.

The event was attended by WIETC’s Country Manager, Li Meng, and Local Partner & Chief Business Development Executive, Abid Rahman Tanvir. Union Council Chairman Mohammad Jahirul Islam received the relief items on behalf of the community.

The aid, which was delivered in two phases, reached approximately 4,500 people from 700 families in Nawabpur Union of Sonagazi Upazila, Feni District. The first phase, conducted on September 25, provided support to 500 families, while an additional 200 families received aid in the second phase. The supplies included essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, lentils, and salt, which were handed over to the Union Council Chairman.

Li Meng, WIETC’s Country Manager, emphasized that the recent floods in the Chattogram region had severely impacted the lives of the local population. In response, WIETC acted quickly, mobilizing internal resources and partnering with external organizations to provide large quantities of emergency relief supplies, including food, clean water, and daily essentials. He highlighted that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting disaster-hit communities and fulfilling its social responsibility during times of crisis.

Abid Rahman Tanvir, WIETC’s Local Partner & Chief Business Development Executive, added that WIETC aims to offer comfort and assistance to the flood victims, helping them return to normal life and rebuild their homes. He also urged other sectors of society to contribute to the flood relief efforts, work together, and help create a brighter future for the affected communities.
