Salman Khan is returning to the small screen with the 19th season of Bigg Boss. The grand premiere of Bigg Boss 19 was aired on Colors TV yesterday, August 24 at 11:00pm Bangladesh time. Before that, it was aired on Jio Hotstar at 9:30pm. This is the first time in the nearly two-decade history of Bigg Boss that it is being aired on OTT before TV.
Salman Khan is currently the highest paid star in the Indian television industry thanks to Bigg Boss. He received a salary of Rs200 crore in the last season of the show. However, this time he is getting a salary of about Rs100 crore less. What is the reason for that?
Hindustan Times reported that Salman will be paid Rs10 crore per weekend for the new season of Bigg Boss. However, this time he will not be able to host the entire show. Salman will be seen for the first three months of the five-month-long show, after which he will take a break and return for the grand finale.
In total, Salman will host the show for a total of 15 weeks. At Rs10 crore per week, he will earn Rs150 crore from this season of Bigg Boss. This figure is much less than the previous seasons of Bigg Boss.
In the 18th season, Salman received Rs250 crore, while in the previous season he took Rs200 crore. This time, since he is not staying for the entire season, his remuneration has also decreased.
In Salman’s absence, Farah Khan and Karan Johar will be seen as the hosts of this year’s Bigg Boss. They have been seen hosting Bigg Boss on various occasions in the past.
