Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team will face West Indies National Women’s Cricket team today in their third Group-B match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (WC) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Captain of Bangladesh Nigar Sultana will lead her side, while Captain of West Indies Hayley Matthews will lead her side.
The match will start at 8:00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite channel Nagorik Television will telecast the match live.
Before today’s match, the Tigresses faced the Caribbeans each other in three T20I matches. Of them, the Windies won all the games. It may be mentioned that in that time Bangladesh were newcomers in international cricket.
The Tigresses made an auspicious start in their first Group-B match defeating Scotland by 16 runs on October 3.
Bangladesh lost to England by 20 runs in their second Group-B match on October 5.
On the other hand, West Indies lost to South Africa by 10 wickets in their first Group-B match on October 4.
The Windies retuned to the winning streak defeating Scotland by six wickets in their second Group-B match on October 6.
England led the points table of Group-B bagging maximum four points from two matches.
On the other hand, Bangladesh, South Africa and West Indies collected two points each from their respective two matches.
So, the Tigresses want to win today’s match to keep their semi-final hope alive.
Ace spinner of Bangladesh Nahida Akter said, ” We lost our last match, which is painful to us. We tried to come out from the nightmare during our practice sessions before tomorrow’s match. We tried our best to perform in the next match and execute our development in the next game.”
Nahida, who is the first Bangladeshi female cricketer, who bagged 100 wickets in T20I cricket, said, ” As we want to play in the semi-final, the next two matches are very vital for us. We shall give our attention to win against West Indies.”
“If we can win against West Indies, it will be comparatively an easy task for us to move into the semi-final. We shall try our best to win the match and we shall attempt to do our best to win the match,” she added.
