The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 15, 2025 welcomed former US President Donald Trump with traditional fanfare and high honours.
Yet this is the same man who openly supported Israel’s aggression against Palestine. How can a Muslim country honour a leader whose actions brought so much pain to the people of Gaza? As human beings, we are called to stand with the oppressed and uphold justice.
Palestine continues to suffer while a Muslim state warmly receives someone who backed their oppressors. The UAE may call it politics – but where is the moral responsibility?
Muslim nations must reconsider such gestures. We must show unity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters, not embrace those who undermine their struggle.
