Sylhet Bureau :
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we have made it clear – we do not accept majority-minority. All citizens of this country are equal and proud citizens. A small country, why so many divisions? We are all one in the national interest. Because if the country survives, I will also survive, everyone will survive. If there is unrest, everyone will have to suffer. We want to build a peaceful and humane Bangladesh.
He said, Jamaat is the only organization that runs on the monthly contributions of its members. We, people of all communities, will work together for the national interest and build a peaceful Bangladesh. If we get any responsibility, we will fulfill our duty as guardians, not as owners. The wealth that our leaders and activists had before the elections will remain the same after the elections. We must look at the people instead of ourselves. Our workers have been clearly told that we cannot look at anyone’s wealth. If such an incident happens, we will take strict action.
He made the above remarks as the chief guest at a meeting organized by Sylhet Metropolitan Jamaat with Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian religious leaders on Saturday night. A large number of representatives of different religions from different levels, including top local religious leaders of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities of Sylhet, were present at the meeting held in the conference room of a prestigious hotel in Zindabazar of the city. Jamaat’s Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair spoke as a special guest at the exchange of views held under the chairmanship of Jamaat’s Central Working Committee member and Sylhet Metropolitan Ameer Muhammad Fakhrul Islam and conducted by Metropolitan Secretary Mohammad Shahjahan Ali.
