Uncollected garbage dumped along a road in Uttara has become a major source of discomfort and frustration for pedestrians, triggering complaints from local residents and commuters alike.
The waste, consisting of household trash, food scraps, and plastic materials, has been lying unattended for several days.
As temperatures rise, the stench from the rotting garbage has become unbearable, while the road remains partially blocked, forcing pedestrians to walk dangerously close to moving traffic.
Taimur Banik, a businessman told The New Nation that it’s painful to pass through this area,” said a local resident. “The smell is awful, and we have no choice but to walk on the road, risking accidents.”
Locals have accused the waste management authorities of negligence, saying that despite repeated complaints, no effective measures have been taken to clear the area.
The unhygienic condition has also raised concerns over potential health hazards, including the spread of infectious diseases.
Residents are urging immediate action from the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to remove the waste and ensure regular monitoring to prevent further dumping. Authorities have yet to issue an official response regarding the issue.
