Volunteers for Environment-(VFE) brings Eid joy to underprivileged children in Dhaka

Volunteer for Environment (VFE) an environment and climate focus voluntary non-profit organization spread the spirit of Eid by organizing a gift distribution event for underprivileged and orphaned children at Surovi School in Dhanmondi, Dhaka in the Capital.
The amazing initiative, supported by the Marketing Alumni Association (University of Dhaka), Bangladesh Environmentalist Society and Shohojog, aimed to bring the festive joy of Eid to those who need it most.
During the event, over 150 underprivileged and orphaned children were presented with new clothes and essential educational supplies, offering them not only material support but also a sense of belonging and celebration.
The initiative highlighted the importance of community support and social responsibility during the festive season in the time Independence day of Bangladesh.
A second-grade student from Surovi School, Lily, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are so happy! No one ever looks after children like us. Getting new clothes makes us feel like we can celebrate Eid too, just like everyone else.”
Expressing the depth of this kind of voluntary initiative, Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, Chair of the Marketing Department at the University of Dhaka and Convener of the Marketing Alumni Association, said, “Education and human values are central to our mission. Initiatives like these play a vital role in raising social awareness and promoting a culture of kindness and responsibility.”
Executive Director of Surovi School Md Abu Taher added “This initiative beautifully embodied the true spirit of Eid—spreading joy, compassion and community—and serves as a reminder of the collective power to make a positive impact on those in need. With continued efforts like this, VFE is helping to foster a more inclusive and compassionate society.”
Founder and initiator of Volunteer for Environment, Shaikh Shahrukh Farhan, underscored the significance of such efforts, stating, “It is our social duty to support orphaned and underprivileged children. This Eid, we wanted to share the joy of the festival with those who are often overlooked.”
Volunteer for Environment has announced its continued commitment to providing regular educational and health support for underprivileged children across Dhaka. The organization is calling for more people to join in and support such impactful social initiatives, which are essential for fostering positive change in the community.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Professor Dr. Sirajul Hoq, Chairman of the Marketing Department at the University of Dhaka, Dr. Md. Neyamul Islam, Member Secretary of the Marketing Alumni Association, Mamtaj Ahsan Bakul, Momtaz Ahsan, Mamtaj Ahsan, Executive Director of Surovi School Md Abu Taher, Dewan Rashidul Hasan, Mofizur Rahman Liton, Jewel Ahmed and other esteemed individuals.
