Business Report:
vivo has announced the establishment of its Robotics Lab and introduced its first mixed reality (MR) headset, vivo Vision, at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025, which commenced today in Boao, Hainan. As a strategic partner of the forum for the fourth consecutive year, vivo also presented its Blue Technology Matrix (BlueImage, BlueLM, BlueOS, BlueChip, BlueVolt), advancements in 6G, and the upcoming vivo X200 Ultra, which has been named the Official Smartphone of Boao Forum for Asia.

During the “vivo Release Moment” session at the event, Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and President of the vivo Central Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech titled “Humanity in the Future of Technology by vivo.” He highlighted the company’s three-decade-long journey, emphasising its long-term vision, human-centered approach, and commitment to collaboration. He noted that vivo has been China’s leading domestic smartphone brand for four consecutive years and now serves over 500 million users across more than 60 countries and regions.

Hu described the mobile phone industry as an incubator for technological breakthroughs, particularly in AI and robotics. While AI has made significant strides in the digital realm, robotics remains largely confined to the physical world. He stated that smartphones—equipped with advanced AI, cutting-edge hardware, and vast user applications—can serve as a bridge between these two domains, paving the way for the next generation of intelligent devices.

As part of this vision, Hu announced the official launch of the vivo Robotics Lab, which will focus on developing the “brain” and “eyes” of robots by leveraging the company’s expertise in AI and spatial computing. He explained that vivo’s decade of experience in AI-driven large models and imaging, combined with real-time spatial computing capabilities accumulated through vivo Vision, will drive innovation in consumer robotics. Unlike industrial robotics, vivo’s focus will be on personal and home-use robotic solutions designed to enhance everyday life. The company aims to bring robotics out of research labs and into real-world scenarios, ensuring a gradual and continuous process of innovation that directly addresses consumer needs.

In his speech, Hu also revealed vivo Vision, the company’s first mixed reality headset, marking a significant step into the MR space. By combining its imaging expertise with AI and real-time spatial computing, vivo aims to create a more immersive digital experience. He further announced that the upcoming vivo X200 Ultra, set to launch next month, will integrate vivo’s latest advancements in imaging technology.

Looking ahead, Hu outlined vivo’s vision of a future where smartphones, AI, and robotics seamlessly interact to enhance everyday life. He reiterated the company’s commitment to continuous investment in BlueTech, 6G, AI, and mixed reality, positioning vivo as a leader in next-generation consumer technology. As vivo collaborates with industry partners, it remains focused on bringing intelligent robotics into households worldwide, shaping a future where technology serves humanity in meaningful and practical ways.
