The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict tomorrow (Monday) on the appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Kamaruzzaman challenging death penalty awarded to him for his wartime offences. Kamaruzzaman’s appeal has been enlisted in Monday’s cause list of the Appellate Division of the SC for verdict. A four-member of appeal bench led by the senior judge of the Supreme Court, Surendra Kumar Sinha, is expected to deliver the verdict on the day. Earlier on May 9 last year, International Crimes Tribunal-2 had sentenced Kamaruzzaman, one of the key organisers of the infamous Al Badr force, to death for committing crimes against humanity during the country`s Liberation War. Challenging the ICT ruling on June 6 last year, Kamaruzzaman appealed with the SC to clear him of the charges levelled against him.
