Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan has called upon students to remain vigilant against drug abuse, describing drug addicts as “misguided and harmed individuals” who lose sight of their purpose in life.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion titled “We, Jahangirnagar, Against Drugs” held on Tuesday at the university’s Senate Hall organized by the Centre for Student Welfare and Counselling.”Every individual is a dream, a hope for their parents. That dream must not be derailed,” said the VC.”One must always stay away from drugs and those involved with them,” he added.
He also emphasized the need for collective awareness against drugs.Speaking at the event, JU proctor AKM Rashidul Alam said, “Anyone found involved in drugs will face the highest level of disciplinary action.”
The event was chaired by Md. jamal Uddin, Director of the Centre for Student Welfare and Counselling. Faculty members and students from various departments also attended the event.
