VC BRUR encourages tree plantation to improve environment

Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi has encouraged the students for tree plantation to improve environment and build a safer planet for the next generations.
He said there is no alternative to forestation through tree plantation to create an eco-friendly and eye-catching green nature for coping with the adverse impacts of climate change and bringing ecological equilibrium for sustainable economic uplift.
The VC, a noted population scientist, said this while planting a sapling of ‘Haribhanga’ variety mango on Sunday to launch the ‘Tree Plantation Campaign-2014’ initiated by the students of the Department of Bengali of the university in the campus.
Students of the Department of Bengali collected money from their own to plant huge number of fruit, wood and medicinal tree saplings in the campus under the programme during this season.
Assistant Professor of the Department of Bengali of the university Dr Tuhin Wadud and a large number of students of the same department were present.
Inspiring students in tree plantation, the VC asked all people, including the students and younger generations, for planting at least one tree sapling annually and reminded that the better deeds of today will become the history of the future.
Lauding initiative of the students for launching the tree plantation campaign at their own, he asked them to continue nurturing spirit of the War of Liberation in conducting better deeds at own cost without depending on the assistance of the others.
